I went down early to our regular club night to play Mark, who has put his Mercenaries to one side for a while to try out some Khador. I was intending to give Rahn a run out but with Mark having 2 jack heavy builds (Other being Harkevich) I couldn’t resist putting Kaelyssa into her chosen prey, especially as this is now using the post-CID AFG. Mark won first turn and we got moving.

Mark cast Battle Charged and ran up in the brickiest of bricks. His 2 Manhunters ran up each flank to cause me some difficulties in the next turns.

Sadly Mark had forgotten about True Sight on Kaelyssa so she was able to take out the Manhunter on the right flank. The AFG advanced up and fires 2 rough terrain AOEs at the Khador brick, with one landing in an excellent spot. The rest of my forces advance up and prepare for next turn.

Mark continues his advance, using the Kodiaks to increase the cloud already present in the centre of the table. His right Juggernaut cannot get fully behind the cloud due to the rough terrain and can therefore be seen by my forces.

Go time. My plan this turn is to kill 3 heavies, make another Stationary and Disrupted, Feat and stay out of 5 inches of the rest. The AFG starts by knocking down the 2 Kodiaks, before Kaelyssa makes 3 of them Stationary and feating, before Refuging back behind the cloud. Helios advances into melee with the left Kodiak, before moving the right one into melee with it and pushing the Juggernaut in the cloud into range of the Sentinels. His melee attacks killed the left Kodiak and made a hole in the other, before the right Sentinels charge and kill the 2 jacks. On the left flank the Sentinels charge and destroy the objective and kill the second Maneater. Plan successful. I move to 2-0 on scenario.

Karchev feats and casts Road to War. This allows the Marauder to kill 2 Sentinels and move the two Juggernauts nearest the Helios within advance range. The Juggernauts between them destroy the colossal. On the left a Juggernaut charges into the Sentinels, killing a couple and contesting the zone. Nobody scores so we remain at 2-0.

Sentinel Vengeance moves put some damage on the jacks and prepare to charge in. Kaelyssa activates and makes 2 of the jacks Stationary before returning to her zone. The AFG shoots the new boosted damage shot and does some decent damage before the Sentinels charge in and finish 3 off, kill one of the Forge Seers and put reasonable damage into another Juggernaut. In the process I clear both zones and run an Arcanist into Mark’s zone. I score 2 more to lead 4-0

Mark looked at the table and concluded that there was no way back from the attrition position he was in and conceded.

VICTORY

A dream match-up for this list really, get it into a jack heavy build, especially one with relatively short predictable threat ranges and it will just control the table and take is apart. Not too much learnt from this game but as I’m currently trying to find a pair for this list it is nice to have a timely reminder as to what doesn’t need to be covered.
